How Does A Borehole Work?
A borehole taps into aquifers, which are underground stores of water created by rainfall and evaporation in permeable geological matter. A waterproof seal at the top of the borehole closes the drill hole to the pipe and thus prevents any potentially polluted surface water from entering the borehole and contaminating the supply.

A borehole is a narrow shaft bored vertically into the ground. Boreholes are an effective way of tapping into the water bearing aquifer below the ground and pumping the water to the surface, you can abstract up to 20,000 litres per day without an abstraction licence.
How Safe Is Borehole Water?
On the whole borehole water is safe to drink. However, it could contain dissolved minerals, bacteria and other contamination. If you suspect your borehole water is of unsatisfactory quality then JN Environmental can send samples to an accredited laboratory that will give a detailed report of the water. Yes, From time to time water tables can alter resulting in your borehole developing a yield issue or even completely running out of water. Do I Need An Abstraction Licence For My Borehole?
